New Year Resolutions 2015

It's that time of the year, renewing the New Year resolutions.

Starting by reflecting on what I said last year I can note:

  • I indeed got rid of Facebook and Twitter. Getting rid of Google was harder, honestly I did not even try, kind of forgot as I got rid of the first two very early in the year. I guess I'll carry it over to 2015.
  • I did manage to shift my mindset to creating amazing products. The new release of ManageWP should prove that.

This year I have a couple of things I want to achieve.

Build a prototype of a hardware device

The entire last year I have been steadily growing my interest in hardware. All my major tech impressions of the last year were related to hardware: India sending mission to Mars for mere $75 million, someone deciding to build Hyperloop, solar roadways...

As much as I love software, there is no replacement for having something tangible in your hands. I already have an idea of what I want to make, and it has to do with the way we communicate.

Make a more efficient organization

Every modern organization can improve on two critical factors that affect its success - speed of innovation and speed of execution. A metric that IMO explains really well how well an organization innovates and executes is Revenue Per Employee. Companies like Tesla Motors move at $200k revenue monthly per employee. Google is at $100k. Intel at $40k. IBM is at $20k. Devana is only at $8k and I'd like to be able to reach at least $20k by the end of the year.
