Quick Way to Measure Brand Impact

Google keyword tool is a fantastic tool for market research. If you type a keyword you will get an estimated monthly number of searches on Google for the target keyword. Which means it can be used as very effective brand awareness research tool.

If I want to find out how many people search for my full name, I would simply type it in and select "phrase" match.

The results indicate roughly 91 monthly searches with my full name in them (it can be just 'vladimir prelovac' or 'vladimir prelovac plugins' etc.). For example 'mark zuckerberg', the founder of Facebook, is being searched for around 60,000 times monthly.

Which means  I am a micro-brand on my own. That puts me somewhere in the neighborhood of let's say "Ibanez Electric Acoustic Guitars" :)

Brands or keywords?

There are always two choices when it comes to marketing on the Internet. Either straight and memorable keyword marketing or try building up a brand.

If I am a WordPress Developer and I want to market my services, I can try to get a domain name like wpguru.com or wpdeveloper.com and it would be probably a very effective way to start.

Or, I can just be prelovac.com/vladimir and do my best to build up a name with time.  This is much harder and slower, but it shows you are in for it as a long term investment.

Thank Deb I appreciate it. You have a lovely site there too.

I think Ivan is much more pronounceable than Vladimir Prelovac. But teaching someone to say it is a nice ice breaker :)

Vladimir, I've been following your blog for almost a year now, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for always bringing quality, reliable information to your readers. While there are some sites I come across which lead me to question the integrity of their information or their free downloads, I have come to know that I can trust you and your information.

Over the last months since I started my photo blog, your site has been a regular resource for me, when it comes to plugin, SEO or other blog-related matters.

Plus, I really like the looks and the structure of your website. It's very pleasant to look at, and very easy to navigate and search.

So keep up your good work -- because I need all the help I can get!

    Best regards,
    Deb

So I shouldn't market myself as 'SEO Consultant' really? :)

The problem I have is that my name is not that easy to pronounce by the people from the market I am targeting.

How many ways can you say 'Ivan' as a native English speaker? I did an experiment - and asked all the Ivans from Ireland on Facebook - How do people pronounce their name. I think I got more than 20 variations... :)

    Ivan
    aka SEO Consultant .... :)
