SEO Friendly Images

The free version of the plugin is not supported. Get the supported, premium version of SEO Friendly Images with lots of premium only features!

SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress optimization plugin which automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes. If your images do not have ALT and TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set. Additionally this makes the post W3C/xHTML valid as well.

ALT attribute is important part of search engine optimization. It describes your image to search engine and when a user searches for a certain image this is a key determining factor for a match.

TITLE attribute play lesser role but is important for visitors as this text will automatically appear in the tooltip when mouse is over the image.

Installation & Usage

  1. Upload the whole plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
  2. Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin.
  3. Use the Options page to modify ALT and TITLE options.
  4. You are done, SEO Image does everything else

SEO Friendly Images options recognize two tags %title (post title) and %name (filename of the picture). By combining these two tags and additional words (photo, picture etc..) you can create relevant alt and title tags automatically for all images.

Here is a live example of the plugin (active on my blog). The image that has title and alt replaced with "%title" and "%name %title" respectively resulting in "SEO Friendly Image" for title and "example SEO Friendly Images" for alt.

There is one additional option called 'Override default WordPress alt'. If you uploaded pictures to your blog posts already and haven't specified a description WordPress would automatically add a default alt tag in form of image.jpg. Since SEO Friendly Images replaces only empty or non-existing alt tags, this would be left intact unless this option is turned on.

We are in the process of publishing a data real estate site with 13,000 properties and approx 150,000 photos. I am wondering if this will work in conjunction with my real estate cms system.

Alt-tags on photos is an important problem for us to solve.

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,
Installed the plugin several times. I am aware the plugin only changes things on the front end and not in the media library. But it the plugin doesn't work.

    Installed Seo Friendly Images 3.0.3
    installed. wp 4.3

I see few people saying previous versions do work. Where can i download the previous versions?
If previous versions not available, what can I do to make it work?

    Thanks alot,

If I have already entered manually some title/alt tags and I don't want to override them. What can I do? I just want the plugin to add the ones not specified manually. Is it possible? Thanks!

    Hi there

Im not the most computer savvy and so I am having issues with working out how this all works.

On the settings page, I wish to change all of the images on my site to the same alt attribute and title attiribute - however with there being over 50 images on the site they are all named differently.

How do I do this???? Do I simply just put new names in the box and if so do I need to put a % sign by it???? Apologies but we all have to start somewhere.

Hi there, I am aware the plugin only changes things on the front end and not in the media library. Even still, this plugin does not work and I have tried on multiple wordpress sites.

Is there a fix or can you take a look? Happy to upgrade to the pro version but I need to know it actually works.

    Hi Vladimir,

I'm definitely interested in any plug-in that will help. We've connected before on the general thread pertaining to SEO and images.

I have a complete site, all the images are present in their various sliders (produced by Themepunch/Revolution or what came with the theme). I'm wondering how your plug-in will work, if I'm not looking for things like colorbox, etc. I definitely AM looking for tools that will help (a) work with images already in sliders, and (b) allow bulk assignments... Does yours do this?

    Many thanks!

Hi, just wondering if the seo friendly images optimises all images [pages and posts] or just the images that appear in posts?
    Thanks, Sam

    Hey There,

You might want to go through your website. The SEO freindly plugin does nothing on your own website. Including the colorbox popup feature. Its broken, no Title or alt tags are written and if you inspect elements using Chrome you'll see you have errors in the code.

    Bummer, I need this plugin!

    ANyway I love ManageWP!! ;)

    Have a good One,

How do you upgrade the pro version of this plugin ?
Everything is geared towards selling it, but the plugin does not auto update and you cannot login to download the latest version ...

Steve, I email critical updates (which is rare). Otherwise you just email me to get the latest version.

Hi, would it be feasible to add dimension tags to the images themselves? Perhaps WP outputs CSS dimensions, but I keep getting flagged for that whenever I research my page load speed, and it would be super handy if those dimensions could be added automatically.
